Corfu Arrival and Birthday Celebrations Continue

Touchdown in Corfu and the Heat Wave

After a smooth and hassle-free arrival at Corfu airport, we were immediately greeted by the intense Greek heat—it hit us as soon as we stepped outside. A private taxi was waiting to whisk us away to our adults-only sanctuary, Domes Miramare Corfu, located south of the airport. Although the distance was just 23 km, the taxi driver’s leisurely pace meant the journey lasted almost as long as our flight from Exeter!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by our personal concierge—a delightful presence who spoke at lightning speed but quickly made us feel at home. We were offered a refreshing cold drink and given helpful suggestions for our stay, including how the half-board system worked.

Relaxation by the Sea

After settling in, we enjoyed lunch by the sea and poolside, soaking in the serene Mediterranean atmosphere. Our room, beautifully situated by the water, provided the perfect base for our celebrations. The afternoon passed in a blissful cycle of drinks and swims—one moment cooling off in the pool, the next taking a dip in the sea.

Evening Birthday Festivities

As evening approached, we prepared for dinner where the celebration of Johnny’s 60th birthday joyfully continued. Dining by the shimmering Mediterranean waters, the meal was exceptional—a perfect blend of local flavors and elegant ambiance. We capped the night off with cocktails before retreating for a restful sleep in our luxurious hotel room, ready to embrace more of Corfu’s magic in the days ahead.
